The Ticket Has Dropped and Colchester’s Summer2026 Is Looking Unmissable

A Summer Programme to Get Excited About

Inside The Ticket, you’ll find a vibrant line-up running from May through to September 2026, covering everything from live music and comedy to theatre, festivals, family events and cultural experiences.

This summer sees internationally recognised artists, much-loved tribute acts and brilliant homegrown events taking over some of Colchester’s most iconic spaces. From huge open-air shows in Castle Park, to packed nights at Charter Hall, intimate performances at Town Hall, and community-focused events across St Nicholas Square and Old Heath Recreation Ground, the programme reflects both scale and variety.

Whether you’re booking months in advance or looking for something to do this weekend, The Ticket is designed to make planning your next great night out easy.

Incredible Venues, Right in the Heart of the City

One of the things that makes Colchester’s events scene so special is its setting. Our venues are woven directly into the city centre and surrounding green spaces, creating experiences that feel accessible, welcoming and full of character.

• Castle Park transforms into a stunning open-air destination for summer concerts, festivals and theatre.

• Charter Hall continues to attract major touring shows and sell-out audiences.

• Town Hall offers a historic backdrop for music, talks and cultural events.

• St Nicholas Square is fast becoming a lively public stage for community events, live performances and seasonal celebrations.

• Old Heath Recreation Ground hosts large-scale festivals and family-friendly days that bring people together.

Each venue plays a role in shaping a programme that feels diverse, inclusive and distinctly Colchester.

More Than Events – A Whole Night Out

The Ticket doesn’t stop at what’s on stage. It also celebrates the wider experience of going out in Colchester.

From pre-show dining and cocktails to outdoor food, drink and live music at Lion Walk Courtyard, the guide highlights places to meet friends, start the evening and keep the atmosphere going long after the main event. It’s all about creating a complete night out — one that supports local businesses while making the most of the city centre.

There’s also a strong focus on community, wellbeing and safety, with practical information to help people plan ahead, get home safely and enjoy events with confidence.

Big Ideas, Delivered by a Dedicated Team

Behind every event listed in The Ticket is a passionate team working to bring big ideas to life. From booking talent and managing venues to programming public spaces and supporting local creatives, Colchester Events plays a key role in shaping the city’s cultural calendar.

As part of the Amphora Group, profits generated through events are reinvested back into services that benefit Colchester’s residents — meaning every ticket purchased helps support the city in a meaningful way.

This latest edition is a clear reflection of the ambition behind the programme: to deliver high-quality experiences, attract visitors, support the local economy and create moments that people genuinely look forward to.

Helpline 24/7: Supporting Independent Living Across Colchester and North Essex

For thousands of residents across Colchester and North Essex, Helpline 24/7 provides peace of mind, independence, and rapid support when it matters most. Delivered by Amphora Trading Limited, a company wholly owned by Colchester City Council, Helpline 24/7 is a trusted, locally delivered emergency monitoring and response service available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Designed to help people live safely and confidently in their own homes, Helpline 24/7 combines responsive technology with trained local teams who understand the communities they serve.

What Is Helpline 24/7?

Helpline 24/7 is a telecare monitoring, response and falls service that supports vulnerable residents through a simple but effective system. By pressing a personal alarm button – worn as a pendant or wrist device – customers are instantly connected to a professional monitoring team who can assess the situation and arrange appropriate help.

Depending on individual needs, the service can include:

• 24/7 alarm monitoring

• Emergency response

• A specialist falls response and lifting service

• Support after hospital discharge

• Optional smoke and carbon monoxide detectors linked to the alarm system

• The goal is simple: to keep people safe, independent, and supported at home for longer.

Who Is Helpline 24/7 For?

Helpline 24/7 supports a wide range of people, including:

• Older residents

• People living with dementia

• Individuals with physical disabilities or restricted mobility

• People with long‑term health conditions such as epilepsy or arthritis

• Residents recovering from illness or returning home from hospital

• Anyone at risk of falls or concerned about personal safety

While many customers are older adults, Helpline 24/7 is not solely an “age‑based” service. It is designed to help anyone who would benefit from fast, reliable assistance in an emergency.

A Vital Falls Response Service

Falls are one of the most common reasons people lose confidence and independence at home. In North East Essex alone, around 50% of people aged over 80 experience at least one fall each year, often leading to hospital admissions and long‑term complications.

Helpline also delivers the North East Essex Falls Service on behalf of the Suffolk and North East Essex Integrated Care Board, helping to relieve pressure on NHS ambulance and hospital services by providing a safe alternative response route.

Coverage Across Colchester and North Essex

Helpline 24/7 supports customers across Colchester and the wider North Essex area, including: Colchester, Tendring, Maldon, Braintree, Harwich, Manningtree, Mersea, Nayland, Tiptree and surrounding communities.

In August 2025, Tendring District Council’s former Careline service merged with Helpline 24/7, creating a unified, digitally led telecare service covering the whole of North East Essex, while remaining fully operational throughout the transition.

A Local, Not‑for‑Profit Service Reinvesting in Colchester

Any surplus generated by the service is reinvested back into local services in Colchester, helping to:

• Protect and improve vital public services

• Support local jobs and skills

• Invest in new technology and service improvements

• Strengthen long‑term support for residents

• This local reinvestment model ensures Helpline 24/7 delivers both social value and community benefit, alongside high‑quality care and response.

Technology Supporting Independent Living

Helpline 24/7 continues to evolve, using digital technology to support modern healthcare and independent living. Alarm units, pendant devices, and linked sensors are professionally installed, with no lengthy contracts and support available throughout the customer’s journey.

Combined with trained local responders and monitoring staff, this blend of technology and human support is helping transform Helpline into a modern digital health solution for North Essex communities.
